The Resilience Champion

Assessing your Setting – Activity & Discussion

Each week you will have access to a downloadable version of the activity & discussion post (may also include a worksheet)

Activity: Work through the following questions either individually or as part of your Resilience Champion team. (You may use the worksheet as a tool to support the activity.) Consider how you might utilize your team to collect feedback on the needs and the strengths of your setting. Getting a variety of perspectives is important so consider what format is best (anonymous survey, interviews, etc) to get honest input. Be careful to avoid implementing this process in a vacuum. Get outside of your comfort zone!

  • Choose an assessment tool: Use the additional resources and/or the worksheet below to develop an assessment tool (formal or informal) that works best for your setting
  • Assess your setting: Use your tool to assess your setting across different areas you defined.

Discussion post:  Post your answer to these questions:

  • What are you already doing in your setting to support a trauma-informed approach?
  • What are your biggest opportunities for improvement?

Exploring Your Strengths & Needs – Activity & Discussion

Each week you will have access to a downloadable version of the activity & discussion post (may also include a worksheet)

Activity: Continue to explore the following questions:

  1. What are the things my setting is already doing to support a trauma-informed approach? (strengths)
  2. What are some of the opportunities for improvement within your setting? (needs)
  3. What needs are the biggest priority? In your role, which ones are having the biggest impact on the level of stress in the clinic?

Consider how you may want to solicit input from those who are not a part of the champion team. Getting a variety of perspectives is important–be careful to avoid implementing this process in a vacuum.  Factors to consider include:

  • Who will have input? (Other staff? Patients? Community partners?)
  • How will we solicit input? (Staff survey? Town halls? Patient walk-through?)
  • How will we communicate about this process to increase transparency and buy-in?
