We are Origins, a training and consulting firm focused on supporting leaders in transforming their organizations and communities through the integration of trauma-informed and resilience practices. Our work is informed by the original Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study, the neurobiology of toxic stress, the impact of social and historical trauma, and the science of resilience. We provide training to executives, management and supervisors, direct service professionals and para-professionals, caregivers, and community members across sectors aimed at shifting the narrative of how we understand health. Our clients represent industries and agencies including health care, education, community and social welfare, law enforcement, and parenting/caregiving.
At Origins, we believe that becoming a resilient organization is more than completing a checklist. We also believe that organizations are only as effective as the people who are serving within them. We offer training and consulting services that establish a solid foundation of trauma-informed principles and help organizations integrate those principles in practice so they can better serve their employees, customers, and clients.
Whether organizations are interested in a stand-alone training session or a broader set of consulting services, we believe the path to resilience starts with awareness.“The Basics” provides an overview of the foundations of trauma-informed practices, including the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) study, how the brain and body are affected by toxic stress, the impact of social and historical trauma, and the science of resilience.
In our training sessions, the pillars of resilience are taught using adult learning models. Our goal is to translate and simplify the most recent research and innovations into everyday workplace and community culture. Trainers model the principles of trauma-informed practices, including establishing emotional and physical safety, authenticity and transparency, collaboration, self-agency, voice and choice, and accountability.
