Lori Chelius, MBA/MPH is a Co-Founder of Origins Training & Consulting. Andi and Lori work with organizations across a number of sectors to build strong foundations based on solid values, build resilience, and provide even better care for the people they serve. She lives in California with her wife, three kids, and their dog, Oliver.
This two-hour virtual workshop is the starting point to help your staff to establish a common language around stress, trauma, and resilience so everyone can participate in a culture centered on wellness. Begin by exploring the impacts of toxic stress on both clients and staff, while deepening your team’s understanding of ACEs (both Adverse Childhood Experiences and Adverse Community Environments), as well as the role of systemic and intergenerational adversity. Finally, learn about the concept of resilience, explore how protective factors can help heal the impacts of trauma, and identify concrete techniques to support staff and clients.
Learning objectives:
1. Define the different types of stress
2. Understand the impacts of toxic stress on the brain and body
3. Define ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences and Adverse Community Environments) and explore the impact of ACEs on health and behavior
4. Explore other sources of toxic stress, including social, historical, and systemic trauma
